Providing Sustainable Support to BHE's Elder Guardians

Wro. Kelem and Wro. Lemlem are two of our guardians we provide with lasting support following the graduation of the youth under their care.

Wro. Kelem supported and raised Ejigu who lost his parents early on. Although they were not related, Wro. Kelem, who lived with Ejigu's mom, took him under her care as her grandson after his mom passed away. In order to provide for them, Wro. Kelem worked as a daily laborer. After joining our program Ejigu attended skills training and graduated in 2017 after gaining employment and becoming self reliant. BHE supported Wro. Kelem in undergoing eye surgery to help her with her medical condition.

“I remember when my grandson joined BHE, I knelt down and kissed the ground. I am grateful to BHE for all the support and putting Ejigu in the right track of his life.”

Wro. Lemlem raised Dagnachew, her only grandchild, after he lost both his parents at a young age. Wro. Lemlem, a strong woman, supported herself and her grandson by preparing different foods on events and occasions in the community. After Dagnachew joined our program, he completed his education and graduated in 2018 after gaining employment.

“This organization is like my own child who takes good care of me in my old age”.

These two strong women gave their care and love to these young boys when they needed it most. Now BHE is continuing to support them in their time of need as part of our elder support program.
