In the past couple of months, Brave Hearts have been working alongside external experts and the local government in order to provide weekly training sessions for 6 of the women guardians for children supported by the foundation, the majority of whom have been orphaned. They have received support in their chosen business initiatives in the form of management training, market assessment and training in savings and credit methods. Strong foundations are being laid for the future careers of the women involved!

Many Ethiopian women continue to struggle to gain reliable employment in order to make ends meet  for their families. The need to care for their children, limited jobs, poor access to health care and the prevalence of girls not receiving education means that securing employment is a challenge faced by many women.

2016 has been off to a flying start, and the organisation is filled with positivity and a strong sense of community. The garden continues to flourish and many of the children take responsibility for tending to the fruits and vegetables – with the promise of tucking into some yummy home grown snacks at the end of the day!

With the help of Brave Hearts, the opportunity of a real future is opened up to children who otherwise would have been confounded to a life without education, support and hope. What is perhaps most incredible, is the way that those who have benefited from the foundation go on to pass their insight and support to younger generations.

Seachange Foundation - Support in Ethiopia

Seachange is delighted to announce its support for a new microcredit project in Ethiopia. Working with Dulma Clark of Soul of Africa Seachange has agreed to support its Brave Hearts project. The Soul of Africa and Brave Heart’s primary focus is supporting economic community development and employment as well as support of children and young people and education and training.
